Sublight Passive Upgrades Guide: What Stats Actually Solve
A practical Sublight passive-upgrade guide for attack speed, range, projectile speed, crit, resource magnet, regen, movement, and capped passives.
Choose passives by the problem they solve. Attack speed fixes low firing volume; range improves uptime and now strengthens chaingun pierce lanes; projectile speed helps slow shots connect; movement and turn speed protect positioning; regen buys recovery time. Patch 0.18 also caps multiple passives, so a stat can disappear from reward options once it reaches its numerical cap.

Offensive passives
| Passive | Best when |
|---|---|
| Attack speed | Your weapon has enough damage but too much downtime |
| Attack range | Your arcs lose targets during movement or you use range-scaling pierce |
| Projectile speed | Slow projectiles trail moving targets |
| Crit | Base throughput is already stable |
Utility passives
Resource Magnet is not direct DPS, but it reduces dangerous collection paths and can keep leveling tempo high. Movement and turn speed likewise convert into practical uptime by helping the hull stay in a productive position.
Capped upgrades
0.18 moved multiple passives to numerical caps; capped upgrades stop appearing as reward choices. If a familiar upgrade disappears, it may be finished rather than bugged.
