Sublight Caches, Markets & Rerolls Guide
How Sublight caches, minimum rarity, markets, rerolls, skip choices, and reward economy work after the major demo progression patches.
Treat caches and markets as build filters, not vending machines. Cache labels can indicate reward type and minimum rarity; uncommon and rare caches cost more; markets now spawn every event cycle with only one active at a time. Spend currency when the choice strengthens your current build, and reroll when all offered options are genuinely off-plan.

Cache quality and labels
Patch 0.17.1 redesigned cache logic, added reward labels such as minimum rarity, and added higher-rarity caches at higher cost. This fixes an important decision problem: you can judge whether the chest is worth the spend before opening it.
Markets
Patch 0.18 increased market frequency to every event cycle, with only one active market at once. That makes currency preservation more relevant. If a mediocre cache will empty you immediately before a market, skipping can be the stronger choice.
Reroll discipline
The video corpus repeatedly shows players rerolling when all choices miss the build. That is sensible; rerolling merely because the first card is not perfect is not. The best roll is the one that compounds what your ship already does.
Boss loot skip
In 0.18, skipping boss loot triggers a level up. That means “none of these uniques fit” is no longer necessarily a dead choice.
